Where Was God

Written by Diana Perry Gillette

VERSE 1
Sometimes out there in the darkest night
A mother prays her child will be all right
Then when she awakes to the early dawn
She finds death has come to take her child home

CHORUS 1
Where was God, did He hear her when she cried?
Or was He standing right there by her side?
Some things we can’t explain, but God will always still remain
We can’t try to comprehend, just trust in Him

VERSE 2
Somewhere tonight in a little room
A little girl is hoping to get well soon
Her body’s frail from all the pain
And on the pillow you can see her tear stains

CHORUS 2
Where is God, does He hear her when she cries?
Is He standing right there by her side?
Some things we can’t explain, but God will always still remain
We can’t try to comprehend, just trust in Him

VERSE 3
Somewhere in time in another place
A mother stands before a cross that was raised
Her flesh was weak, but deep inside
She knew the Son she loved would be sacrificed

CHORUS 2
Where was God, did He hear her when she cried?
Or was He standing right there by her side?
He knew she loved Him so. She didn’t want to let Him go
She didn’t try to comprehend, she trusted Him
