Verse 1
Paul was in a cell with Silas in jail
Shackled and locked up tight
They began to sing and a rumbling came
Along about the middle of the night

The one who was keeping the jail woke from sleeping
Afraid that the prisoners had escaped
God then intervened and set them all free
And even the jailor got saved

Chorus
God is in authority His Word is real
His love can change the heart of any man at will
He controls the world and every turn of events
He’s the only one who knows what the outcome is

He can rescue all His children with His mercy and grace
I know because I’m one of those that He truly saved
His power’s to be reckoned with and won’t be ignored
Blessed be the hand of the Lord

Verse 2
I had a lot to bear, didn’t think I had a prayer
My future wasn’t looking too bright
I didn’t understand that a self made man
Could never make his mark on life

A strong sense of pride left me broken inside
So I called upon the name of the Lord
The measure of a man is in God’s hand
And that’s where I have  found my reward
