I Dropped the Stone
Shona Bright / Chris White Music (BM)
I was there the day, they led her, through the street,
I saw her tears, as they cast her down, at Jesus feet,
But I felt, no, sympathy, she was guilty you see,
So, I picked up a stone, to throw self-righteously.
Then Jesus, knelt, and wrote upon the ground,
And for a moment nobody made a sound, every word He wrote was true,
And suddenly I knew, all that I’d done wrong,
I dropped the stone, I just turned and walked away,
I dropped the stone, there’s nothing left to say,
How can I throw rocks at you? It’s time I faced the truth,
I’ve got sin, of my own, I dropped the stone.
Sometimes, judgement comes so easy,
When I see someone, who isn’t just like me,
But I’ve lived long enough, that I’ve come to understand,
Judgement’s a rock, too heavy for my hand!
I drop the stone, I just turn and walk away, I drop the stone,
There’s nothing I can say, how can I throw rocks at you, it’s time I face the truth,
I’ve got sin of my own, I drop the stone.
I just turn and walk away, I find a place to pray, I’ve got sin of my own, I drop the stone,
I drop the stone, I drop the stone!
