A Church On Bethlehem Road
Regina Walden / Chris White Music / BMI / Asheville Music Publishing / BMI
Often in service Mom would set me in the floor
I would play at Daddy’s feet
I heard the good news of Christ our Lord
No words ever sounded so sweet
He told of manger in Bethlehem
Christ was born so meek and low
They worshiped our Lord for the very first time
At a church on Bethlehem road
At a church on Bethlehem road
CHORUS
Just a little country church down a dusty road
No steeple just people we loved
The pews weren’t padded and neither were the pockets
Of the folks that filled them up
Bro Deacon would pray and the Church would sing
“Praise God from whom all blessings flow”
God’s love was truly shown
At a Church on Bethlehem Road
Running through the yard in my Sunday shoes
Momma calling child keep your clothes clean
Little did I know that these childhood memories
Would become such sacred scenes
As my mind wonders back down Bethlehem Road
It comforts my heart to know
That Jesus was born and I was born again
At a church on Bethlehem Road
At a church on Bethlehem Road
BRIDGE
From the very first congregation
In that stable long ago
With Love and adoration
How God’s Church has grown
From humble small beginnings
To the Church that we now know
Thank God for sending Jesus
To a Church on Bethlehem Road
