Peter’s Song

Peter’s Song

When the rooster crowed that morning,

It startled me awake,

I suddenly remembered,

what happened yesterday,

How, they crucified my savior,

His broken, body, on display,

I was overwhelmed with sorrow,

Weighed down with my disgrace.

How could I let you down?

How could I cause you pain this way?

How could I let you down?

How could I turn and walk away?

I’ll Never be the same,

Everything has changed,

How could I let you down?

Oh, Jesus! how could I let you down?

I said that I’d stand with you,

Even if it cost my life,

And when I saw you ,surrounded,

I drew my sword to fight,

That night they, asked me if I knew you,

And I lied straight to their face,

I could hear the rooster crowing,

Just as, I denied your name!

I said I’ll go back fishing,

Back to who I used to be,

But then I saw you by the fire,

On the shore of Galilee,

And you asked me if I loved you,

And I cried, Lord you know I do!

It was then I found forgiveness,

It was then I learned the truth!

You’ve never let me down,

No matter what I’ve done!

You’ve never let me down,

No matter how far I’ve run!

I’ll never be the same,

Everything has changed!

You’ve never let me down!

Oh, Jesus! You’ve never let me down!
